Concrete dyes are formulated using extremely small color molecules and, with the correct solvent or water, penetrate any cement surface when properly prepared. Here at Duluth Polished Concrete Company, we use environment-friendly floor polishing systems and concrete dyes that can make both a translucent acid-like appearance and vibrant colors of the rainbow.
Floor dyes can be used on standard concrete floors, complete colored concrete, and dry-shake color hardeners. Multiple color dyes can be used to make floor designs without the use of a saw cut to split colors as needed with acid stains. Concrete dyes can be used on top of each other if multiple colors are desired. CONCRETE ACID STAINING SERVICE
Duluth Polished Concrete Company has a large-scale experience with concrete acid staining of residential and commercial flooring and polished concrete flooring. Once our concrete acid staining and polishing process is done, you no longer have to worry about the acid stains walking off as you do with a sealer or wax application. Concrete acid staining is built from two main components, acids, and metallic salts.
The acid opens the pores of the concrete letting the penetration of the metallic salts.
Metal salts chemically interact with the calcium hydroxide in cement to create a permanent color change that infiltrates the surface of concrete floors.
The staining of concrete acid is limited to eight colors and variations of each. Colors are usually earth tones in nature. Several colors can be reached through a variety of methods. Our polished concrete system, together with concrete acid staining, will give the concrete a translucent permanent variegated mottled look that is UV stable. The staining of concrete is a great way to change the color of existing uncolored or colored concrete residential or commercial flooring that has been in place for at least 26 days.
Concrete acid staining and our ecological-friendly concrete polishing systems are far superior to any application of acid stain and application of sealer. Moisture will not affect the appearance and there is no possibility of peeling as with sealers. We provide a warranty for material and labor.

All that is needed to maintain the seal and shine on your polished concrete flooring is periodic automatic scrubbing, damp mopping, and sweeping. Proper maintenance of concrete is essential for a polished concrete floor. Good maintenance and cleaning of the concrete floor will ensure the lifespan of the polished concrete flooring and will help to keep the polish for years to come.
We recommend professional cleaning supplies depending on the finish you have. These floor care products are neutral pH, non-rinsing cleaners specifically formulated to amplify your polished concrete flooring, as it renews the finish whenever it is used. It simply adds to the water and applied with a wet mop or automatic scrubber. We also recommend the earth-friendly Diamond Cleaning System.
Avoid all acidic cleaners!
Acidic cleaners may corrode your polished concrete flooring surface over time and causing dullness of the finish. No aggressive scrubbing brushes. Strato grit brush, nylogrit brush, and other aggressive scrubbing brushes can alter the floor’s polishing pattern and leave a boring appearance. Avoid any contact with acid. Also, avoid detergents containing hydroxides or sulfates.
